Makeathon Day 3 — Major Steps Accomplished

This morning, as I arrived at the fairgrounds, I spotted a group of students doing Pilates under the palm trees — a brilliant way to start the day! I think I might join them tomorrow. But for now, it was time to get back to our fantastic team — a very diverse group of different ages, nationalities, academic backgrounds, and experience levels, and yet: a perfect match.

Major Steps
Accomplished

After two days of troubleshooting and fine-tuning, we finally made significant progress. We successfully evaluated the energy consumption of all Shelly plugs directly in InfluxDB, allowing us to track the CO₂ footprint of the production process. To make things even more user-friendly, one of our team members built an app with a Start and Stop button, making it easier to define the calculation period and analyze energy data. Additionally, we created the first administration shells with nameplates — another big step toward a fully integrated digital system.

After lunch, I managed to take some time to explore other challenges happening around us. It’s amazing to see the variety of ideas being brought to life — here are some impressions:

Christian and I left early to attend the Sponsor Evening, where we had engaging conversations with sponsors and professors about the future of digitalization, education, and many other topics.

Meanwhile, the team back at the fairgrounds had two more hours to push forward — what they accomplished in that time remains a mystery for now. We’ll find out tomorrow!

the final countdown

Tomorrow marks the last day of the challenge, and our goal is clear: successfully connect to the shredding and melting machines built by the other Murr Elektronik teams. Can’t wait to see everything come together!
