“Danish Dynamite” – OI4 Alliance Introduces Itself at Business and Robotbrag in Denmark for First Time

The Open Industry 4.0 Alliance is introducing itself for the first time at this year’s DIRA Business and Robotbrag, in Denmark. From May 3–4, 2023, the Alliance will inform companies and associations about the cooperation opportunities within the Alliance at the exhibition area on booth 75. In addition, numerous members of the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance will also be represented at the trade fair in Odense — including Beckhoff, Endress+Hauser, IFM, KUKA, Murr Elektronik, Pepperl & Fuchs and Weidmüller.

Since its founding in April 2019, the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance has grown to more than 100 member companies and is increasingly establishing itself in the European industry as a “practitioner and implementation alliance”. With the Alliance’s first trade show appearance in Denmark at the DIRA Business and Robotbrag organized by DIRA (Danish Industrial Robotic Association) in cooperation with DTI (Danish Technological Institute), the Alliance underlines its international expansion program. After the successful launch in the Netherlands last year, the alliance is now strengthening its European commitment in Italy, Belgium, and of course Denmark.

“The next step in our internationalisation initiative brings us to Denmark and are looking forward to it as we see the region as one of the top industrial locations,” says Dr. Christian Liedtke, Chairman of the Board at OI4 and Head of Strategic Alliances at Kuka. “We see great potential in the Danish market. The Alliance is already well known in Denmark, as Aalborg University has used the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance’s open architecture to demonstrate how simple it is to connect the shopfloor to the cloud as a MADE project. Therefore, and also to comply with our members´ request, we are strengthening the activities of the Alliance in Denmark and establishing another “local hub”.  Business and Robotbrag in Denmark now gives us the opportunity to engage with companies, and also with national professional and industry organizations.”

“As part of our internationalization strategy, we are constantly on the lookout for partners in the Industry 4.0 world who know local structures, conduct research, or have access to funding. We are therefore pleased we were also able to win DIRA for a partnership,” Dr. Christian Liedtke continues. “Whether it’s the EU Data Act, resilient supply chains, the reduction of the Co2 footprint, or requirements for the circular economy — the most pressing issues for industry and business can only be addressed together, internationally and in a network.”

The alliance of practitioners and implementers

The Open Industry 4.0 Alliance is an association of leading companies in the field of Industry 4.0 and covers numerous industries and disciplines within the world of industry digitization. Members benefit from the ever-growing expertise of other members (both nationally and internationally) and in addition, they find and receive appropriate support within the alliance in finding suitable partners or best-practice examples for their digitization initiatives.

“We see ourselves as a community of practitioners and implementers. We are an ecosystem of market-leading companies committed to creating compatible solutions and services. So we really put Industry 4.0 projects into practice on the basis of existing standards,” concludes Dr. Christian Liedtke.

About the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance:

The Open Industry 4.0 Alliance acts as a partnership association of leading industrial companies that pragmatically participate in the implementation of cross-vendor industry 4.0 solutions and services for manufacturing plants and automated warehouses. In industry and technology working groups, industry experts develop, use cases, and implement them technically based on the OI4 reference architecture. These solutions, along with implementation guides, are shared within the community and made available outside the Alliance. The Alliance was launched in April 2019. The seat of the association is Reinach, Switzerland.
