Simplification of Data Management:
AAS Platforms for Standardized Digital Twins
& Multi-Vendor Implementation
“The approach of showcasing digital twins of various assets at the Messe was quite interesting. Interacting with the assets via QR code was also engaging. The user interface made it easy to understand the standards of the Asset Administration Shell for different assets.”
THE PARTICIPANTS COULD DISCOVER THE INTEROPERABILITY OF STANDARDIZED DIGITAL TWINS AND MAKE THIS EXPERIENCE TANGIBLE
For the second time after the SPS 2023, you could access all product data, across companies, in a standardized form on-the-go/on-demand in the Follow The Twin Challenge at the Hanover Fair 2024 (#HM24).
We are addressing the fact that the industry is utterly fragmented and remains fragmented. That’s why it is important to work on interoperability: All Hannover Messe challenge participants discovered that there could be a smooth journey even though two independent AAS Repositories providing the Digital twins were involved.
How it technically works
All participating partners have committed to providing product information in the same standard, both in terms of content and provisioning. Through this project, an environment has been established where data is provided according to the AAS standard and is also structured according to standardized submodels. This gives the user a unique opportunity to gather the necessary supplier data for their processes, from engineering to operation, across different independent vendors and AAS back ends in an equally straightforward manner.
Technical benefits:
- AAS implementation to serve efficient data exchange.
- No point-to-point connection is necessary for each vendor.
- Standardized information across all vendors means no additional translation or restructuring of data is needed.
Business benefits:
- Paperless provisioning of product data – available on demand to the right people when they need it.
- Vendor independent – no costly solutions needed for connecting each vendor.
- Up-to-date information.
