Webinar: Dataspace 4 Everybody

Dataspace 4 everybody
in a nutshell

The AAS Dataspace for Everybody provides a complete, enterprise-ready environment for Asset Administration Shell-based dataspaces. Built on Eclipse BaSyx, it enables companies to share digital twins, prototype data sharing, and integrate into federated ecosystems such as Catena‑X and Manufacturing‑X.

RECAP

The webinar introduced the AAS Dataspace for Everybody – a managed, scalable infrastructure jointly developed by IDTA, NetApp, and Fraunhofer IESE. It offers companies a straightforward entry point to test, prototype, and operate AAS-based dataspaces without building the entire infrastructure themselves.

Participants learned how the environment supports:

  • Fast prototyping: Focus on your use case while the infrastructure is managed for you.

  • Flexible integration: Connect your own AAS repositories or use hosted options.

  • Tailorable blueprints: Choose between starter, distributed registries, federated, or hierarchical setups.

  • Open testing: OI4 members gain free access to a shared tenant, using all up-to-date Eclipse BaSyx components and APIs.

  • Use case templates: Ready-to-use blueprints for scenarios like product carbon footprint tracking or process control.

Also, a practical example was presented through Furniture‑X, where digital product passports for the furniture industry are being developed and tested within the dataspace.

Overall, the session showed how the AAS Dataspace for Everybody lowers the entry barrier for data-driven collaboration by simplifying access, ensuring scalability, and enabling companies to gain hands-on experience with real-world data sharing and supply chain integration.
