The event demon­strated how indus­trial data spaces are being imple­mented in prac­tice, bringing together compa­nies and experts in Factory‑X to develop real use cases, vali­date approaches and advance collab­o­ra­tive solu­tions based on AAS and stan­dard­ized data exchange.

Overall Summary
The Knowl­edge Camp brought together around 120 partic­i­pants from the Festo Open Commu­nity, Factory‑X and the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance in Esslingen to answer one central ques­tion: how to bring indus­trial data spaces into real imple­men­ta­tion. Across two days, the event combined strategic impulses, hands-on collab­o­ra­tion and real use cases, showing how open ecosys­tems, AAS and stan­dard­ized data exchange are already driving prac­tical solu­tions.

Day 1: Setting the Direc­tion and Exploring Use Cases
Keynotes from industry and ecosystem leaders high­lighted the impor­tance of open, collab­o­ra­tive ecosys­tems as the foun­da­tion for indus­trial trans­for­ma­tion, followed by deep dives into 13 live demon­stra­tors and five inter­ac­tive breakout sessions, enabling peer-to-peer exchange, concrete discus­sions and a joint reflec­tion of results in a closing panel.

Day 2: Deep­ening and Moving into Imple­men­ta­tion
The second day focused on advancing ideas into prac­tice, with further breakout sessions, inten­sive networking directly around the demon­stra­tors and continued exchange on real chal­lenges and solu­tions. A key high­light was the selec­tion of the FX Cham­pion, recog­nizing an AAS-based data exchange along the product life­cycle, while addi­tional activ­i­ties such as the visit to the Festo Tech­nology Factory and hands-on work­shops connected discus­sions with real indus­trial envi­ron­ments.

What became clear is that digital collab­o­ra­tion does not happen in isola­tion. It requires a strong ecosystem, shared stan­dards and trusted part­ners working together. This is exactly where the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance plays a crucial role by bringing compa­nies together, aligning approaches and turning indi­vidual solu­tions into scal­able, inter­op­er­able reality. The event showed that real progress happens when collab­o­ra­tion moves beyond talk and into joint imple­men­ta­tion, powered by the strength of a connected commu­nity.
